A champion for a better future in Les Pays-d'en-Haut
Timothy Watchorn is a proud resident of Morin-Heights, where his family settled in 1850. Born in 1970 to English-speaking parents, he received a bilingual education at Collège Notre-Dame in Montreal and John Abbott College. A civil engineering graduate of École Polytechnique de Montréal, he was also a national alpine ski instructor.
Professionally, Timothy has held key positions in public works, first with the municipality of Saint-Sauveur, then as manager in Sainte-Adèle. Since 2009, he has been a project manager at David Riddell Excavation & Transport.
His political involvement is part of a family tradition, as his grandfather was mayor of Morin-Heights. Elected as a municipal councillor in 2001 and 2005, Timothy became mayor in 2009. He was re-elected with strong majorities in 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2021, and in 2017 he was also appointed deputy prefect of the Pays-d'en-Haut Regional County Municipality. Under his leadership, the population of Morin-Heights grew from 2,100 to nearly 5,000, and the municipality undertook important initiatives such as preserving the Castel-Marie estate and building the Bellevue community center and a seniors’ residence.
At the same time, Timothy has been actively involved in his community, serving in a variety of roles, including as president of the Garde-Manger des Pays-d'en-Haut and the Comité de sécurité d’incendie, and as a coach and volunteer for local sports clubs.
Timothy is married to Julie Cartier, a school principal, and is the proud father of Emma and William. He wants to demonstrate his commitment in federal politics as the Liberal MP for the new riding of Pays-d'en-Haut.
